Emerging Teaching Philosophy

TEACHER GROWTH PLAN

Teaching and learning occurs best when students feel safe and cared for, and that their voices are valued in their learning environment. Effective learning occurs when students are involved in the learning process and are able to rehearse ideas, make mistakes and process information through multiple pathways. I strive to build a sense of community with my learners by co-creating expectations and clearly communicating standards in a positive, reflective and disciplined manner. Ultimately, the goal of my teaching is to engage students in the practice of reflecting on their own thought processes and growth, and to critically explore the world around them as they work towards becoming active participants in their communities, both immediate and global.
